Started series of files for instructions for stuff done with plastic bags yarn. Realized ww'd probably have lots of these over time, and we'd want to put up images participants send us. So I added a couple of zeros to the file numbers and changed the images of NY Times, LA Times, and Wall Street Journal plastic covers to fit this newer system. Since we have a website on which to display participants' work, I think we should do so. Local communities can use the praise. These numbers let us go up to 9, 999. I sure hope we don't have any more images than that. jeanne
Now I can see an Eskimo, too. Bet I could do a background to evoke that image, too. jeanne
Think I screwed up something here. Since it's being restructured anyway, I guess that won't matter too much.

Issue of DH from week of August 19, 2007. Has several free form piece images, from 20007 and the first piece I actually completed, La Sagradaa Familia. Needs tying into 2011 revision of site. jeanne

Sample gallery image of a free form piece with a southwest theme. With a suggestion for a note card.
Files updated, added, or changed for the separate material on the Cats who Crochet site. For now, I'm replicating the two records pages because I haven't yet decided whether we should use separate URLs or not. If we do, I'll need this separate record for Cats who Crochet. Dear Habermas is the site on which we put up teaching materials and information that involve all our public sphere activity groups, not just the crochet group. jeanne

First page of a crochet along for the simple free form necklace. Shortened name. jeanne
Added images to show use of plastic bags as yarn. jeanne
A sample gallery page to show a free form piece in the shape of an abstract heart that could be a small necklace, a key chain, decoration on a special card, a special book mark, a patch on a sweater, a jacket, or jeans. jeanne
Records of Cats who Crochet files I've added to or changed. jeanne
Full size image so you can see stitches up close. When I use these images on the website, I use smaller images. To see the larger one, if it's on the website, click on the jpg or gif image alone, as it is here. I'll teach you how to do this when we start to meet. jeanne
Cropped image of the chain and its attachment to the free form piece. The chains are hard to count here because the yarn I used is one that varies from thick to thin. Sorry. I was hunting for a color that matched, and wasn't thinking about your needing to count the chains. jeanne
Cats instruction image on the NY Times Sunday plastic cover. Blue
Cats instruction image on the LA Times Sunday plastic cover and the Wall Street Journal Sunday plastic cover. Orange. The weekday covers are clear plastic. That could be fun, too, if you used colored yarn with it. jeanne
Fabric image of black and white envelope-style purse with shoulder strap. Made of multi-colored plastic and fun yarn in black with white paper-like strips. I think this one is done in crochet. It would have been a mess to try knitting all those strips and that black fun fur. Whenever you have long pieces like that jutting from the yarn, they get caught up and pulled through the knit stitches. Then you have to work them free, if you'd like them to look like this fabric. This purse has a really neat fabric for lining.
I can't find any of my cameras. They're obviously packed away under something, and I don't have time to go looking. When I do, I'll take a photo of the purse so you can see it. You'll have to nag me. There's so much to do with re-rganizing these sites. jeanne
Image of inside of purse, with lining. The little bits of color you see is the plastic crochet under all the furry stuff sticking out. You can see why you might want to knit that combination. Crocheting it is easier. (I actually don't have the lining stitched in yet. There really is a lot to do with these websites. By the time I find the cameras, I'll get the lining stitched in. Honest. jeanne
Story of a young woman with cystic fibrosis. Relates to our teaching of empathy, non-bullying, and finding the best in each of us for collaboration. Older participants, interested in gathering more information on what we talk about that really matters will find this file in the Dear Habermas site index, as well as in the cats who crochet site index.

Relaunch of Dear Habermas to fit effectively into our new community development project. The Dear Habermas Home Page should be launched in a few days. jeanne
Theory has come together for the community development project. Please be patient. It's gonna take a little while to get it all up. jeanne
Hmmm. . .This one's gonna take a little while. Without thinking about the coordination between cats who crochet, I used currentissue.htm for the Cats who Crochet site. So now I'll have to figure out how to make them merge happily. May be we'll have to just get the project a separate website from the information on issues site. Ideas welcome. jeanne
Image retrieved from my sketch books - would like to use it to discuss nuclear disaster in Japan, and difficulty of remembering to provide safety nets for Others. Anybody know the moderate Republicans' positions on "safety nets"? Will look it up if someone reminds me. jeanne

Outlining to help focus on form of piece.
Added a touch of red outlined to see if that would hel you see another shape or form.
Changed the background here to see if we can evoke another shape. This time I had in mind the putti (cherubs) on the ceilings of the Pippi Palace in Florence.jeanne

Changed sources to coordinate with jcls3702.htm. jeanne
Added "In Our Time" and "Thinking Allowed" from BBC downloads, under Sources. May not have time to complete it right now, but it seems to fit our community life-time learning approach. jeanne
Updated.

Drawings from jeanne's sketch book illustrating what congress has felt like lately. The "putti" (cherub) in the top corner is jeanne's husband, Arnold, who has been her model for years and years.
Updated intro with a view to community service. Fixed a couple of typos and added links to a few of the sources that needed them. Added politifact.com scripts our of desperation to get all of us to stop altering the facts to where we sound like advertising agencies. jeanne
Added Fellman and checked links. Some of this is out-dated and will be updated as I prepare the community site. jeanne
