    On the RCI site visit

I have been thinking about what the man said about rehabilitation. I guess I can some what see what he says but I am not sure I can totally agree with what he says. In are group we asked a lot of questions and our tour guide handled them very well. This visit was different then the last time I was there. This time it did not seem as rough as a place. Last time it seemed that the guards were talking about the bad times they had there. Last time we got to see a little bit more of the building.

frank -- why do you think today's site visit was different from a previous site visit?

    On stereotyping

I thought today's discussion on stereotypes was very interesting. I believe that stereotypes still exist because people don't come together and talk about misconceptions. People need to have an open opportunity like our class to share and learn together. I feel the best way to learn about people is to experience and talk to them one on one.We can't just group people by sterotypes.

andrea -- i'm hoping that our classroom is a "safe place" for us to discuss issues such as stereotyping.

    On stereotyping

I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed today's class discussion on sterotypes. I am glad to be part of a class where we can have open discussions like we do. Discussions like that really help me understand issues and look at things differently. I wish more of the students at Parkside could experience a class like ours. I'm looking forward to finishing up the discussion on Monday.

marissa -- yes, this was one of our better class discussions so far, this semester. where else but in a classroom can students feel "safe" to test out their views?
