    From CRMJ/SOCA 363: Corrections

Stefnee Goines wrote on Tuesday, September 27th:
    On who goes to prison?

I just want to say that yes there is a discrepancy between "who goes to prison" and "who belongs in prison" because there are people in prison now that are innocent but they are there.

stefnee -- any other discrepancies? why..

Stefnee Goines wrote on Thursday, September 29th:
On her reaction to "Quiet Rage"

I thought the way the guards treated the inmates was ridiculous, making them do ridiculous things such as polish their shoes, play "Frankenstein", and how they played "friendly" when the parents came to visit. Do they do this when parents come to visit in real prisons? They were supposed to be acting like a real correctional facility, where is the "correction"?

stefnee -- good question. post it on the yahoo discussion site.

From CRMJ 365 : Race, Crime, Law

Stefnee Goines wrote on Thursday, September 29th:
    On what is race?

I think of race as a way to classify the many different people. I also think race should not matter any more, we are being taught that we should treat all people the same, yet we make sure to distingusih between race when it comes to certain things. WHY? People have fought hard and long for civil rights, freedom, and equal rights.

stefnee -- good question: WHY (does race persist)? .
